
Almora: The sixth day of the Ramleela organized by Shri Bhuvaneshwar Mahadev Mandir & Ramleela Committee, Karnataka Khola, Almora, was celebrated with grandeur and devotion. The performances included episodes such as Muni Atri–Anusuya, Panchvati, Shurpanakha’s nose-cutting, Khar-Dushan, Trishira killing, Ravan–Marich dialogue, Sita abduction, and Jatayu episode, delighting the audience with their vivid enactment.
The highlights of the day were Shurpanakha’s nose-cutting, the battle against Khar-Dushan, and the Ravan–Marich dialogue. The audience appreciated the actors’ singing and acting skills, cheering enthusiastically. People from across the country and abroad also watched the live online broadcast, sending messages to praise the committee for the spectacular staging.
The event commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony by Chief Guest District Magistrate Mr. Alok Kumar Pandey and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Devendra Pincha. The DM expressed his excitement at the massive turnout and the disciplined environment maintained by the organizers. He congratulated the committee’s founder and patron, former minister Bittu Karnataka, for this commendable initiative and assured support for further beautification and improvement of the venue. The SSP highlighted the importance of a drug-free Almora, noting that the Ramleela Committee’s initiative would contribute to a healthier society. He also mentioned that a drug rehabilitation center has been established in the district.
Key performances included Ram by Rashmi Kandpal, Laxman by Komal Joshi, Sita by Vaishnavi Pawar, Shurpanakha by Mamta Vani Bhatt, Ravan and Jogi Ravan by former minister Bittu Karnataka, Sadhu Marich by Manish Joshi, Khar by Akhilesh Singh Thapa, Dushan by Kamal Paliwal, Trishira by Abhishek Tiwari, Muni Atri by Badri Prasad Karnataka, and Anusuya by Gitanjali Pandey. The lively performances, particularly the dialogues between Ravan-Marich and Khar-Dushan, captivated the audience.
The event was attended by prominent citizens and devotees, including Govind Singh Rawat, Chandan Singh Rawat, Vijay Vrihaspati, Harish Bhatt, Ashok Bankoti, Suresh Chandra Joshi, Lalit Mohan Karnataka, Kailash Chandra Tiwari, Jeevan Chandra Tiwari, Pawan Joshi, Pramod Pandey, Dinesh Chandra Tiwari, Brijesh Pandey, Rekha Kandpal, Usha Joshi, Vandana Joshi, Kirti Nainwal, Manju Nainwal, Jyoti Karnataka, and Gudia Tiwari, among hundreds of others.
