Almora-Haldwani Helicopter Service to Begin from October 1, Approved by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami
Almora – The long-awaited Almora-Haldwani helicopter service is finally set to become a reality. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami has given the green signal, and the formal inauguration of the service is scheduled for October 1, 2025. This initiative will not only strengthen regional connectivity but will also play a crucial role in promoting tourism, trade, and emergency response in the region.
The journey toward this significant achievement began on April 5, 2025, when Kapil Malhotra, Secretary of Maa Vaishnavi Education and Welfare Society, along with Councilors Amit Sah Monu, Abhishek Joshi, Arjun Singh Bisht, Jyoti Sah, and BJP Municipal President Vineet Bisht, submitted a formal memorandum to the Chief Minister. The memorandum clearly outlined the need for a helicopter service in a hilly region like Almora.
This demand received strong support from Almora MP and Union Minister Ajay Tamta, as well as BJP District President Kailash Sharma, both of whom actively advocated for the cause at the government level. Their efforts played a pivotal role in the approval of the service.
While receiving the memorandum, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had assured that the Government of Uttarakhand is committed to enhancing regional air connectivity and that Almora, being a vital town, would definitely be included. Today, that promise is on the verge of fulfillment.
According to experts, the helicopter service will be particularly beneficial for the elderly, patients, and during emergencies. Moreover, the initiative is expected to elevate tourism in the Kumaon region to new heights. While it currently takes 3 to 4 hours to travel from Haldwani to Almora by road, the helicopter service will reduce this journey to just 25–30 minutes.
Local representatives and social organizations are enthusiastic about this development. The councilors jointly stated that the service will be convenient, safe, and time-saving for common citizens. They expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister and all the senior officials involved.
Kapil Malhotra, Secretary of Maa Vaishnavi Education and Welfare Society, stated, “The government has taken our long-standing demand seriously and honored the public sentiment by ensuring the launch of this service. This is a victory of collective effort and public participation.”
When the first helicopter takes off from Almora to Haldwani on October 1, 2025, it will mark not just the beginning of a new service, but a historic step forward in the development of Almora.
