
Almora. The historic and culturally rich city of Almora is set to host this year’s Dussehra festival in an even more grand and attractive manner. To discuss the preparations, members of the festival committee met District Magistrate Alok Kumar Pandey. During the meeting, the committee shared details of the festival’s proposed outline and sought the administration’s support and guidance.
District Magistrate Alok Kumar Pandey praised the committee’s efforts and said that the Dussehra festival is an integral part of Almora’s cultural identity. He assured full cooperation from the district administration to make the festival grander. He also instructed SDM Sadar Sanjay Kumar to hold a meeting with the committee and prepare a detailed action plan.
Committee President Ajit Karki and Secretary Vaibhav Pandey informed the District Magistrate that effigies of Ravana’s family will be displayed this year. They emphasized that Dussehra is not merely a religious event but a festival symbolizing social harmony and cultural unity, and therefore, efforts are being made to enhance its scale and grandeur every year.
Chief Advisor Deep Singh Dangi and Chief Coordinator Dharmendra Bisht stated that this year’s celebration will not only be grand but will also attract tourists. Cultural programs and fireworks will be the main highlights of the festival. The committee further sought the administration’s cooperation to enhance the overall magnificence of the event.
The meeting was attended by Media In-charge Kapil Malhotra, Sushil Sah, Bhairav Goswami, Manoj Sanwal, Harish Kanwal, Salman Ansari, Sanjay Sah Rikku, Councilor Deepak Kumar, Councilor Anoop Bharti, Harshit Tamta, Suraj Vani, Lalit Kanwal, Dixit Joshi, Pankaj Kanwal, Mukul Kumar, and Hitesh Negi along with several other dignitaries. All participants agreed that Almora’s Dussehra festival is a major attraction not only for locals but also for visitors from outside.
The committee expressed hope that this year’s festival will prove to be historic and unforgettable. With joint efforts from the district administration and the committee, the Almora Dussehra festival is expected to establish a new identity from the perspective of cultural tourism.
