Almora. The residents of Paparshaili NTD Kasar Devi gathered at Balta Tiraha and staged a strong protest against the Public Works Department (PWD). During the demonstration, the angry crowd burnt an effigy of the department, alleging that PWD is serving notices only to threaten and intimidate the local people.
Speakers at the protest said that the functioning of the Public Works Department has become anti-people and is working against the interests of the common citizens. They added that the residents will not tolerate injustice under any circumstances and will collectively oppose the department’s arbitrary actions.
It was decided during the protest that a larger meeting will be held next week to expand the struggle committee and chalk out further strategies. The participants also agreed to approach the court and fight the matter legally. The speakers emphasized that the movement will continue until the department ends its dictatorial policies.
A large number of people were present during the program. The gathering resolved in one voice that the struggle to protect the rights and interests of the people will continue, and they will not back down under any pressure.
