Almora. The Ramleela organized by Bhuvneshwar Mahadev Temple and Ramleela Committee, Karnataka Khola, Almora commenced on Monday with great enthusiasm and a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The opening day began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by senior members, marking the auspicious beginning of the event. The stage reflected a perfect blend of religious fervor and cultural vibrancy.
On the inaugural day, the chief guest was Sandeep Singh, Chairman of Maa Ambe Institute of Nursing & Paramedical Sciences, who praised the committee’s efforts and said that cultural programs like Ramleela play a vital role in connecting society with traditions and values. He also urged the audience to encourage children to draw inspiration from the Ramayana and the life of Lord Shri Ram.
The first day’s performances included Ram Vandana, Ravana’s penance and boon, Ravana’s atrocities, prayers by the Devas, the birth of Lord Ram, the birth of Goddess Sita, and Ram’s childhood pastimes. The devotional and artistic enactments mesmerized the audience, leaving them immersed in faith and joy.
Pratyush Kandpal, as Lord Ram, delivered a captivating performance, while Harshit Aswal impressed the audience as Lakshman. Karan Joshi portrayed Bharat, Bhoomika Pandey as Shatrughna, and Bhoomi Pandey as Goddess Sita. Amar Bora, in the role of Narad Muni, won appreciation for his lively performance. The Ram Vandana dance performed by Niharika, Mishti, Gunjan, and Khushi added a divine aura to the evening.
Chiranjivi Lal Verma as King Dashrath and Megha Kandpal as Queen Kaikeyi infused depth into their roles, while Meena Bhatt (Kaushalya) and Kanchan Pandey (Sunaina) further enriched the stage with their performances. Former Minister Bittu Karnataka enthralled the audience with his powerful portrayal of Ravana, receiving thunderous applause.
