Almora.
A meeting held at Late Vijay Joshi Auditorium of Almora Municipal Corporation witnessed sharp criticism of the corporation’s functioning. The corporators said that during the previous board meeting, the corporation administration was given one month’s time to act on three important points. However, regrettably, even after the deadline expired, no seriousness was shown by the administration on any of the issues.
Corporators alleged that such an attitude amounts to ignoring the problems of local residents and insulting the decisions of elected representatives. Deep resentment has spread among the corporators due to this negligence. They warned that if concrete and written decisions on their demands are not taken within the next two days, a phased hunger strike will be launched from Wednesday, and the agitation will be intensified.
The three key demands of the corporators are as follows:
1. Immediate appointment of the Municipal Commissioner and Accounts Officer.
2. Approval and execution of the budget related to construction works.
3. Immediate allocation of funds for catching stray animals and monkeys.
The corporators said that if prompt action is not taken, they will be compelled to take strict steps, and the entire responsibility will lie with the municipal administration.
Those present in the meeting included Corporators Chanchal Durgapal, Anju Bisht, Madhu Bisht, Vaibhav Pandey, Hem Tiwari, Vikas Kumar, Bhupendra Joshi, Mukesh Kumar Daini, Advocate Rohit Singh Karki, Kuldeep Mer, Pradeep Kumar, Gunjan Singh Chamyal, Deepak Kumar, Anoop Bharti, Kamla Kirola, Naveen Chandra Arya, Vijay Bhatt, Janki Pandey, and Intaqab Qureshi.
