Almora. Continuous water drainage on Gas Godown Road had been troubling local residents for a long time. The constant flow of water not only made walking difficult for pedestrians but also started damaging the road. The route is especially significant as it connects people to the Karnataka Khola Ramleela stage and the Laxmeshwar Durga pandal, where large crowds gather during the festive season.
To address this issue, Municipal Councilors Amit Sah “Monu” and Abhishek Joshi met Mayor Ajay Verma and apprised him of the situation. The councilors urged the Mayor to resolve the problem immediately, especially with festivals underway, to avoid inconvenience to the public.
Taking quick action, Mayor Ajay Verma personally inspected the site and held discussions with officials of the Public Works Department (PWD). He instructed them to initiate remedial work without delay. Acting on these directions, PWD officer Harshit Gupta visited the site and commenced the work.
On Friday, Councilors Amit Sah “Monu” and Abhishek Joshi, along with Gram Panchayat member Kapil Malhotra, visited the spot to review the quality of the work. PWD Assistant Engineer P.S. He stated, “As soon as I came to know about the water drainage problem on Gas Godown Road, I immediately inspected the site with officials and ordered work to begin at once. Our priority is to improve basic civic amenities so that no citizen faces inconvenience.”
He further added that during the festive season, special attention is being given to cleanliness, roads, and traffic arrangements across the town. Officials have been instructed to respond promptly to any reported issue.
Councilors Amit Sah “Monu” and Abhishek Joshi thanked the Mayor for his swift action, noting that the timely solution has provided major relief to the public. Gram Panchayat member Kapil Malhotra also assured that the quality of the work would be ensured so that the problem does not recur in the future.
