
Prof. Neerja Tandon says – Saving our language is a big challenge in the era of AI
Nainital. As part of the nationwide Hindi Fortnight celebrations, the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Nainital organized various competitions and cultural performances.
Chief guest and judge Professor Neerja Tandon said, “Language is born out of culture and strengthened by it. The more diverse the culture, the richer and more vibrant the language becomes.” She further added that in today’s era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), all languages, including Hindi, face new challenges. Therefore, AI should be seen as an opportunity, and positive efforts must be made for the promotion and growth of the language.
Colorful Performances
Artists of CBC, Nainital presented captivating performances during the program.
Bhaskar Joshi staged a solo play titled “Hum Hindi ke Premi” highlighting the importance of individual and social efforts in preserving Hindi.
Sharmistha Bisht presented a self-composed song on Hindi.
Shraddha Gururani Tiwari delivered a speech on Hindi while also hosting the program.
Shobha Charak and Dr. Deepa Joshi recited poems.
Anand Singh and Gopesh Bisht spoke on the history of Hindi usage in governance.
Bhupendra Jadaut enthralled the audience with a melodious Kumaoni folk song.
Prof. Tandon praised all participants, saying the presentations were so impressive that it was difficult to choose winners. Hence, all participants were awarded equally.
Students of Government Primary School, Waverly Compound presented a patriotic song and also wrote calligraphy in Hindi. Principal Pushpa Bisht emphasized that the importance of Hindi should be instilled from the primary education stage itself.
Regional Publicity Officer Neeraj Kumar Bhatt informed that the event began with Prof. Tandon planting a tree under the campaign “A Tree in Mother’s Name” at the office premises. He also shared that Hindi Fortnight is being observed in all government offices from September 16 to 30, with the aim of increasing the use of Hindi in official work.
Several dignitaries including Diwan Singh and Rajesh Narayan Sonkar were present on the occasion. Program coordinator Dr. Deepa Joshi extended a vote of thanks.
