Colorful Competitions for Women to Be the Highlight of the Event on July 30

A significant meeting of the Women’s Welfare Association was held at the association’s office, where team leaders and members from various groups participated enthusiastically. The meeting began on a devotional note with melodious presentations of Sawan bhajans and songs, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere.
Association President Rita Durgapal, who chaired the meeting, announced that, like every year, the Sawan Fair would be organized with great enthusiasm and cultural fervor. The event is scheduled for July 30 and will take place from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Nanda Devi Temple premises.
Special Competitions for Women
President Durgapal informed that the fair will feature three main competitions exclusively for women:
1. “Become a Bride” Contest
2. Seli Decoration Competition
3. Bhajan Singing Competition
The “Become a Bride” contest will be held in two age categories:
Category 1: Women aged 25 years and above
Category 2: Senior women aged 65 to 70 years
She emphasized that including senior women will allow them to relive old memories and share their life experiences. Participants will be dressed in bridal attire and will be asked two questions by the judges. Winners will be selected based on their dress, answers, and overall presentation.
In the Bhajan Singing Competition, each team may have up to five women, all of whom must perform in green sarees and traditional Solah Shringar (sixteen adornments) to embody the spirit of Sawan.
Culinary Stalls to Promote Self-Reliance
The fair will also host culinary stalls, where women can bring and sell homemade delicacies. The woman with the most delicious dish and highest sales will be specially honored. All proceeds from the food sales will go directly to the women participants, encouraging both entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

The meeting witnessed active participation from several members, including Shanti Shah, Asha Karnatak, Chandra Agrawal, Anju Agrawal, Anuradha Agrawal, Manju Joshi, Mamta Chauhan, Geeta Shah, Rama Joshi, Asha Pant, Deepa Satish Joshi, Rekha Chauhan, Sunaina Mehra, Paru Upreti, Prema, Kusum Joshi, Seema Chaudhary, Prabha Bora, Snehlata Joshi, Heera Kanwal, Kanchan, Lata Pandey, Mamta Khatri, Pushpa Joshi, Jaya Pant, Vimla Tiwari, Neema Devi, among others.
