Almora. The historic and mythological Nanda Devi Fair 2025 once again came alive with cultural vibrancy and traditional fervor. On Sunday, all the respected women councilors of the Municipal Corporation presented a grand Jhora performance at the sacred premises of Maa Nanda Devi Temple. The event added both spiritual devotion and cultural magnificence to the ongoing fair.
Participating in the Jhora were councilors Anju Bisht, Radha Matiyani, Janaki Pandey, Tulsi Devi, Poonam Tripathi, Neha Tamta, Meera Mishra, Asha Bisht, and Madhu Bisht. Dressed in traditional attire, they performed in perfect rhythm, filling the atmosphere with devotion and festive enthusiasm. The audience applauded heartily and encouraged their performance.
Supporting them were councilors Jyoti Mishra, Vaibhav Pandey, Bhupendra Joshi, Vandana Verma, Deepak Kumar, Amit Sah Monu, and Abhishek Joshi, who graced the stage and appreciated the women councilors’ collective effort.
Mayor Ajay Verma, present as the Chief Guest, praised the initiative, saying that the Nanda Devi Fair is not only a symbol of faith but also an enduring medium to preserve social unity and cultural traditions. He congratulated the women councilors for their inspiring contribution.
As Special Guest, Congress District President Bhupendra Bhoj lauded the women representatives’ efforts, emphasizing that the fair represents the shared heritage of the community and gains strength through the active participation of all sections of society. He called their performance a source of inspiration for future generations.

The temple premises resounded with chants of Nanda-Sunanda, while the beats of Dhol-Damau and Hudka created an enchanting rhythm. Devotees and visitors were captivated by the collective energy of the traditional Jhora.
A large number of citizens, women, and children witnessed the program and described the councilors’ presentation as historic and memorable. The Nanda Devi Fair, known for its cultural richness and deep faith, continues to symbolize the identity of Kumaon, and the women councilors’ participation further strengthened this legacy.
