
Almora. Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Ajay Tamta, on Tuesday inaugurated the Munshi Hariprasad Tamta Dharamshala and Craft Museum Centre, constructed at a cost of ₹69.82 lakh in Almora town, along with a 30-bed Government De-Addiction Centre established at Base Hospital.
On this occasion, the Union Minister said that the Dharamshala, built in the name of Munshi Hariprasad Tamta, will prove to be highly beneficial for the local residents. The Craft Museum set up here will help promote traditional handicraft products, giving a new direction to the livelihood and skills of local artisans.
He informed that the De-Addiction Centre at Base Hospital is the first such centre in the district that meets the standards of State Mental Health facilities. The centre is equipped with 24×7 counselors, psychologists, and trained staff. After the inauguration, the Minister inspected the arrangements and gave necessary instructions to the managing organization.
He further said that this centre marks an important step in Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s Drug-Free Uttarakhand Campaign. It will benefit not only Almora but also the people of other districts across the Kumaon region.
The De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre will be operated by Sankalp Nasha Mukt Devbhoomi Trust (Almora). For its operation, the District Magistrate has sanctioned ₹10 lakh from the District Mineral Trust Fund. Institution in-charge Ashutosh Singh Aswal informed that admitted patients will be provided free counseling, treatment, meals, medicines, and other facilities. For admission, a patient’s ration card, Aadhaar card, and a guardian’s Aadhaar card will be mandatory.
The program was attended by Ranikhet MLA Dr. Pramod Nainwal, Almora Mayor Ajay Verma, District Magistrate Alok Kumar Pandey, Chief Development Officer Ramji Sharan Sharma, Principal of Medical College C.P. Bhainsora, Social Welfare Officer Aradhana Tripathi, Counselor Mamta Joshi, along with several public representatives and officials.
