In a remarkable display of responsibility, Dubkiya Ward Councillor Anju Bisht has taken it upon herself to ensure that all streetlights in her ward remain functional amid growing reports of tiger activity in the region. To prevent inconvenience and fear among residents, she has been conducting late-night inspections of streetlights, accompanied by her husband Rakesh Bisht.
Over the past few days, the couple has been walking through the ward’s lanes and main roads, checking whether the streetlights are operational. Wherever they found faulty lights, they immediately informed the municipal authorities for repair.
Local residents expressed relief, saying that well-lit streets are essential, especially when wild animals like tigers are reported in nearby areas. The councillor’s proactive step has given people a sense of safety and assurance.
Speaking to residents, Anju Bisht said that being a councillor is not limited to attending meetings, but about understanding people’s real problems and taking immediate action. She added that when women and elderly residents complained about facing fear and inconvenience in dark lanes, she decided to personally inspect the streetlights.
Her husband Rakesh Bisht has also been actively assisting in this initiative, accompanying her during late-night rounds and helping prepare a list of malfunctioning streetlights.
Citizens say that if every public representative showed such dedication and sensitivity, many civic problems could be resolved more effectively. Municipal officials have acknowledged receiving the councillor’s report and confirmed that repair work on faulty lights has already begun.
This initiative by Councillor Anju Bisht has been widely appreciated and is being seen as a commendable example of public service and accountability.
