
Almora: All Schools to Remain Closed Tomorrow Due to Heavy Rain Alert
Almora. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun, issued a forecast on Monday, September 1, 2025, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and extremely intense showers in several districts including Almora, Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Tehri, Chamoli, and Bageshwar. The forecast also cautioned about possible disasters such as landslides, flash floods, boulder falls, waterlogging, and road blockages.
In view of this alert, District Magistrate/Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority, Almora, Mr. Alok Kumar Pandey, has ordered that on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, all government, semi-government, and private schools (from Class 1 to 12), along with all Anganwadi centers in the district, will remain closed.
The District Magistrate has directed the Chief Education Officer, Almora, and the District Programme Officer, Almora, to ensure strict compliance with this order. He further stated that any violation of the order will lead to strict action against the concerned authorities.
The District Magistrate also appealed to the public to take the weather alert seriously and avoid moving towards vulnerable or high-risk areas. Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Authority has instructed all related departments to remain on high alert and be prepared for any emergency relief and rescue operations.
