
BJP workers pay tribute; funeral held at Doongri
Almora. Kesar Singh Matela, father of BJP Almora IT Department Convener Govind Singh Matela, passed away. He was a valiant soldier who fought bravely in the 1962 Indo-China War, during which he was injured by a bullet. He was regarded as the last surviving war hero of the 1962 conflict from the Kumaon region.
The last rites of late Matela were performed at Mundeshwar Ghat in his native village Doongri. A large number of public representatives and BJP workers joined the funeral procession. Those present included District President Mahesh Nayal, former MLA Raghunath Singh Chauhan, Ramesh Bahuguna, Ravi Rautela, Dharmendra Bisht, Kailash Gururani, Prakash Bhatt, Councillor Amit Sah ‘Monu’, Mandal President Sanjay Bisht, Prem Latwal, Councillor Arjun Bisht, Abhishek Joshi, Manoj Joshi, Krishan Bahadur Singh, Devendra Satyapal, Lalit Mehta, Devendra Bhatt, Madan Bisht, among many others.
Condolences were expressed by Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya, MLA Mohan Singh Mehra, State Vice President Kailash Sharma, former MLA Raghunath Singh Chauhan, Govind Singh Pilkhwal, former District Cooperative Bank Chairman Lalit Latwal, City President Vineet Bisht, Lalit Dosad, Lata Bora, Kiran Pant, Leela Bora, along with many public representatives and BJP workers.
Speakers at the condolence meeting remembered the contributions of late Kesar Singh Matela and said that his life will remain a source of inspiration for future generations.
