Public representatives reviewed the situation on site, called for concrete action by administration for animal welfare

In the Paparsaili area of Gram Sabha Shailguth, an injured calf has been undergoing treatment for the past month. Rahul, a paravet posted at the Animal Hospital in Almora, has been providing continuous medical care to the animal. This sensitive initiative by animal lovers and local representatives has sent a strong message about the importance of animal welfare in the region.
Gram Panchayat Member Kapil Malhotra stated that a permanent solution is necessary for such stray and injured animals. He said that he would soon meet the District Magistrate to discuss this matter in detail and request for the arrangement to shift such animals to a proper cow shelter, where they can be taken care of safely.
Municipal Councilor Amit Sah Monu was also present at the site. He remarked, “Cow protection is an essential part of our culture. I have always been committed to it and will continue to be. In such cases, not just public representatives but every citizen must show compassion and responsibility.”
Former councilor Jagmohan Bisht emphasized the need for systemic arrangements and said, “Animals are a part of our society, and it is our moral duty to serve and protect them. The administration should ensure that cow shelters are established at the village level so that such incidents are not repeated in the future.”
Councilor Abhishek Joshi and social worker Akshay Rajput were also present. All members reviewed the calf’s treatment and ensured cleanliness in the surrounding area. Paravet Rahul informed that the calf’s condition is improving steadily and he is continuously monitoring its health.
Villagers appreciated the swift action taken by the public representatives and the animal care team. They demanded the development of a permanent mechanism to provide timely help in such situations. According to the locals, stray cattle are often found injured near roads or in fields, but due to the lack of a proper care system, timely treatment becomes difficult.
This collective effort by local leaders has set a positive example in the region and demonstrated that cooperation between society and administration can bring meaningful change in the lives of stray animals. Awareness about the need for a dedicated cow shelter is now growing among the residents, and hopes are high that decisive steps will soon be taken in this direction.
