
Assurance Given in Presence of Public Representatives and Departmental Officials
Almora. The Irrigation Department conducted an inspection of the ongoing drainage construction work in Dubkiyan Ward on Friday. The inspection was jointly carried out in the presence of Councilor Anju Bisht and other councilors. Departmental officials, contractor representatives, and social workers were also present during the visit.
During the inspection, Junior Engineer of the Irrigation Department Jivesh Verma reviewed the progress of the work on-site and issued necessary instructions to the contractor. He stated that the primary aim of the drainage construction is to provide permanent relief to the residents from waterlogging and sanitation-related problems.
On this occasion, contractor representative Ram Bhagat Bhandari, councilors Deepak Kumar and Naveen Kumar Arya, social worker Rakesh Bisht, along with Anil Mer and Kiran Shah, were present. All of them closely examined the construction work and interacted with local citizens to understand their concerns and expectations.
Councilor Anju Bisht assured the residents that any inconvenience caused to households and streets during the construction process would be resolved promptly. She emphasized that special attention would be given to the problems of the people, and the work would be completed within the stipulated time to provide long-term relief to the ward residents.
Some citizens raised concerns regarding difficulty in commuting and heaps of construction materials on the road. Responding to this, departmental officials and councilors reassured them that the inconvenience was temporary and once the project was completed, the issue of water drainage would be permanently resolved.
Social worker Rakesh Bisht stressed that the quality of work should be given top priority to avoid frequent repairs in the future. He appealed to the officials and contractor representatives to ensure regular inspection of construction materials and to provide proper instructions to workers.
On this occasion, councilors Deepak Kumar and Naveen Kumar Arya highlighted that the construction of the drainage system was a long-standing need of Dubkiyan Ward. Every monsoon, residents had to face problems of waterlogging and unhygienic conditions. With the new drainage, not only will water disposal improve, but the cleanliness of the locality and the condition of the roads will also see significant improvement.
At the conclusion of the inspection, Junior Engineer Jivesh Verma reiterated that the department is committed to carrying out the project with full seriousness. He affirmed that both quality and timelines would be strictly adhered to and warned that any kind of negligence would not be tolerated.
Local residents expressed satisfaction over the joint inspection and the proactive involvement of the councilors. They also conveyed hope that the long-pending issue of drainage and waterlogging in the area would finally be resolved soon.
