A 21-year-old youth from Someshwar, admitted to Base Hospital, suddenly fell critically ill when his platelet count dropped dangerously low. To save the patient’s life, there was an urgent need for AB-positive platelet donors—nearly eight units were required. In such a dire situation, timely humanitarian initiative and coordination helped save a precious life.
Provincial member of the Red Cross, Manoj Sanwal, and Youth Red Cross Chairman, Amit Sah “Monu,” took the matter seriously and immediately contacted Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Devendra Pincha. Showing deep humanitarian concern, SSP Pincha promptly deputed police constable Saurabh Goswami to the hospital, where he donated AB-positive platelets.
The platelet arrangement did not stop there. Other Red Cross officials and social workers also came forward. Municipal Councilor and active Red Cross member, Abhishek Joshi, along with three other donors, also donated platelets, setting a commendable example. Through this spirit of teamwork and social dedication, the patient received timely platelets and his condition improved.
The Red Cross Society expressed gratitude to SSP Devendra Pincha, stating that such immediate cooperation from the police department is not only commendable but also reflects their sense of responsibility and sensitivity toward society. The promptness and service spirit of constable Saurabh Goswami were also described as truly inspiring.
Youth Red Cross Chairman Amit Sah “Monu” said:
“When we received information that the patient’s condition was critical and AB-positive platelets were urgently needed, we immediately began efforts. The very purpose of the Red Cross is to serve humanity in times of crisis. The moment I spoke with SSP Pincha, he assured full support and instantly deputed a socially responsible police jawan like Saurabh Goswami, which is truly praiseworthy. Alongside, other youths too came forward selflessly to donate platelets, which ultimately saved the patient’s life.”
“We are grateful to all Red Cross members, the police administration, and the blood donors. Such cooperation and sensitivity are what make our society stronger. I appeal to the youth to actively participate in blood and platelet donation and contribute toward saving lives.”
Amit Sah further assured that the Red Cross team will always remain ready for such initiatives in the future and will continue providing all possible support to those in need.
Red Cross officials also expressed hope that the police department will continue to extend its cooperation in blood donation and emergency health services in the future. They appealed to the general public as well to come forward in such humanitarian acts and spread a positive message by helping the needy.
This incident proves that through collective effort, service-mindedness, and timely action, even the most difficult situations can be overcome. When different sections of society unite and step forward, humanity always triumphs.
