
Almora. Social worker Meeta Upadhyay, who was recently honored with the prestigious “Teelu Rauteli Award,” received a grand welcome on her arrival in her hometown Almora. This was her first visit to Almora after receiving the award, and a large number of women gathered to honor her contributions. They showered flowers on her and warmly celebrated her achievement.
Meeta Upadhyay was felicitated by the Government of Uttarakhand for her remarkable work in the fields of women empowerment, social service, and upliftment of marginalized communities. The Teelu Rauteli Award is recognized as the state’s highest honor for women. Women of Almora expressed pride and joy over her achievement, stating that Meeta Upadhyay has brought glory to the district and the region.
During the felicitation ceremony, women highlighted that Upadhyay’s social service has been particularly inspiring for rural women and underprivileged sections of society. Her efforts have significantly contributed to making women’s groups self-reliant, promoting education, and spreading awareness about health-related issues.
A large number of women were present at the event. Women welcomed Meeta Upadhyay in a procession accompanied by traditional drums and honored her with garlands and traditional attire. Speakers at the event said that her recognition is a source of inspiration for all women of Almora and the Kumaon region.
In her concluding address, Meeta Upadhyay expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone and said that the award belongs not only to her but to the collective efforts and struggles of the women of Almora. She assured that she would continue to dedicate herself to social service with full commitment in the future as well.
