Lamgara (Almora). The flag hoisting ceremony on Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti at Lamgara Block became a subject of discussion this year. For the first time, a government office witnessed flag hoisting in the absence of its department head.
As per the government’s directive, all offices were instructed to hoist the national flag at 8:00 AM. At Lamgara Block, all government employees and public representatives reached on time. However, the Block Development Officer (BDO), Mrs. Nivedita Khulbe, did not arrive on time, due to which the ceremony could not begin as scheduled.
After waiting for a considerable time, when the BDO did not show up, the senior block head (Pramukh) was compelled to hoist the flag around 9:30 AM. The situation was strongly criticized by those present, as it was the first instance where a national flag was hoisted in a government office without the presence of the department head.
Employees and representatives attending the ceremony expressed their disappointment, stating that such negligence on a day of national significance is highly objectionable. They added that it not only reflects administrative carelessness but also raises questions on the functioning of the system.
Local representatives and citizens have demanded strict measures to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future. They emphasized that on national occasions and official events, officers must be present on time to uphold the dignity and discipline of government institutions.
