
Almora. A dangerously dry and dilapidated tree standing in Pandekhola area had long been a cause of concern for local residents. Acting on the complaint, former Minister of State Bittu Karnatak and Councilor Amit Sah Monu immediately took cognizance of the matter. They discussed the issue with the District Magistrate, Senior Superintendent of Police, Disaster Management Department, and the Municipal Corporation, demanding the tree’s removal in the interest of public safety.
Taking swift action, the administration deployed teams from Disaster Management, Municipal Corporation, Fire Service, and NDRF to the site. The tree-cutting operation began promptly under their supervision. Councilor Amit Sah Monu was also present on-site during the entire process to oversee the work. By Monday morning, the tree was safely cut down, removing the constant threat of an accident. Locals heaved a sigh of relief after the successful completion of the operation.
Residents and public representatives expressed gratitude to the administration for the immediate response and extended special thanks to the District Magistrate and SSP.
The tree-cutting campaign involved Disaster Management Officer Vineet Pal, Fire Service Almora team members Girish Dhariyal, Mukesh Singh Pathani, Dhirendra Singh Bisht, Prem Singh, Chandra Joshi, Disaster Management team members Bhuvan Kandpal, Alok Verma, Govind Satwal, along with Municipal Corporation staff. Former Minister of State Bittu Karnatak, Councilors Jyoti Sah and Amit Sah Monu, as well as Abhishek Joshi and Arjun Bisht were also present on the occasion.
All participants jointly praised the administration’s timely action, noting that the quick decision helped avert a major mishap.
