Mayor of Almora Municipal Corporation, Ajay Verma, informed that after years of persistent efforts, the construction work of the Munshi Hari Prasad Tamta Dharamshala, located on Mall Road, has now been nearly completed. He said that on Thursday, 28th August 2025, at 2:00 PM, the Dharamshala and Craft Museum will be formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The Mayor stated that a night shelter facility has been arranged in the Dharamshala, where visitors and examinees from outside the town will be able to stay at affordable rates. A total of nine rooms have been constructed, with accommodation for two persons in each room.
The Craft Museum, established within the Dharamshala, will showcase and sell local handicraft products. This initiative will not only provide employment opportunities to local artisans but also ensure a wider market for their products.
The Mayor appealed to all political and social organizations, as well as the general public, to grace the occasion with their presence and enhance the significance of the program.
He also informed that preparations for the upcoming Maa Nand Ashtami Festival have been completed by the Municipal Corporation. This year, the festival will be celebrated on a grand scale. The Mayor urged all devotees to extend their cooperation in ensuring the peaceful and successful conduct of the Maa Nanda Devi Fair.
