Red Cross Committee takes humanitarian initiative to support the needy
Almora – A blood donation camp was successfully organized today at the Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan (VPKAS), Hawalbagh, under the aegis of the Red Cross Committee. The initiative was supported by VPKAS, with the institute’s Director, Dr. Laxmikant, and several staff members actively participating in the noble cause.
A total of 16 units of blood were collected during the camp. The donated blood was handed over to the Blood Bank of Almora Medical College, with the intent to support patients in urgent need of blood transfusion. The camp aimed to promote awareness about voluntary blood donation and its life-saving impact.
The event saw the presence of Resident Medical Officer Dr. Durgapal, Red Cross Committee President Ashish Verma, State Executive Member Manoj Sanwal, Treasurer Deep Joshi, and Dr. Ashish Jain from the blood bank, along with his medical team. Their coordination and efforts ensured that the blood donation process was safe, hygienic, and efficient.
Director Dr. Laxmikant expressed her gratitude to all participants and highlighted the importance of regular blood donation. “Blood donation is a noble act that can save lives. We encourage all citizens, especially the youth, to donate blood whenever possible,” she said.
President Ashish Verma also acknowledged the commitment of VPKAS and the contribution of every donor. He emphasized that such initiatives strengthen the spirit of community service and create awareness about the critical role of blood banks in emergency healthcare.
